DIY Mason Jar Vase
My latest DIY was inspired by a recent trip to HomeSense. I was checking out the spring themed accessories and noticed the fabric flower arrangements in mason jar vases. The $30 price tag, however, motivated me to create a DIY mason jar vase!
I am sure you have noticed that mason jars are quite prevalent in the DIY world. They are everywhere!
Thankfully, we are not tired of them yet.
This easy & affordable DIY is fun and of course you can customize your vase to your personal colour scheme.
You will need for your DIY Mason Jar:
1) a glass jar which will make a suitable vase. Since I re-use glass jars for spices, herbs etc. I already had a couple of empty mason jars from a pack of organic tomato sauce purchased from Costco.Of course, you can also use a mason jar.
2) Paint which will adhere to glass. I used Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint from my local Michael’s It took three coats to fully cover the outside of the glass. I also painted the top edge and about one inch of the inside rim.
3) Burlap ribbon (mine also came from Michael’s) and twine, which I already had.
My biggest tip for shopping at Michael’s is to use the coupons. They come in a flyer but you can also download them onto your phone from the website.
Simply wrap the burlap ribbon around your painted vase, hot glue it at the back, tie some twine around it a few times, add some very inexpensive fabric flowers from Michael’s (of course) and there you go!
