Jo’s Colours: Palladian Blue
My friend Lynn lives in a charming bungalow, in a picturesque part of town which is dotted with mature trees, parks and walking trails.
Because it was time to update the sad and dated kitchen, I dropped in with my large (11 x 14 inch) colour boards – a selection of over 100 top colours and neutrals by Benjamin Moore. Once you have chosen paint colours with these large painted boards there is no turning back because they make colour selection so easy!
Lynn and I chose one of my favourite colours, Palladian Blue, from the Benjamin Moore Historical Collection. I didn’t even have to talk Lynn into this warm, yet fresh and happy colour. She immediately said yes, let’s do it!
The main living area in Lynn’s living room is painted Moonshine, which is a lovely soft grey with a touch of green so the blue-green tones of Palladian Blue provide a perfect pop of fresh colour.
This room received a total revamp including practical wood-look vinyl flooring, trim painted out a true white and new kitchen cupboards.
I love the little breakfast bar and pantry cupboards installed on the wall which formerly held the fridge.
Here are a couple of before pictures. This room was sad and tired and the light beige walls did nothing to complement the lovely soft gray tones of the living area and hall.
The fresh blue-green tones of Palladian Blue and the crisp white kitchen cupboards provide timeless appeal.
For added inspiration three lovely rooms, which feature Palladian Blue walls:
A perfect colour combination: this white, gray and pale aqua bedroom offers a peaceful and serene retreat for the lucky homeowner. To me this bedroom by Shea McGee of Studio McGee, is perfection.
A pair of coral lamps provide a lovely accent to this aqua and white dining room by House of Jade Interiors. By painting a relatively inexpensive dining set white and the old buffet dark gray, this room on a budget looks current and fresh.
This vintage white bathroom, painted Palladian Blue is from one of my favourite blogs, my old country house. You can see how truly versatile this paint colour is. If you are looking for a soft aqua for your bathroom, this one always works.
Lynn’s next and final project for her kitchen is painting the blond wood dining set a crisp white. I’ve offered to help so will post the new pictures as soon as I can. Check out my Facebook page for the update!
