An auction find, the elegant mahogany table and chairs from the 1920’s were updated by stripping off the old finish on the table top and adding layers of poly to protect the surface for day to day use, while the chairs and table pedestals were painted with Annie Sloan white chalk paint and lightly distressed. Lightly distressing the chairs means that this dining set will stand up to an active family of two boys.
The final touch to this revamped dining set was the hard-wearing 100% cotton navy fabric for the chair seats.
The 100% wool reversible rug made in India was a lucky find in a local store and ties in with the room’s blue and white theme
Other vintage touches in this room are the thrift store gold frames (with new mirrors added); brass candlesticks and blue and white plates and porcelain pieces.
